Baptism of Christ

Jesus came from Nazareth to John to be baptized
What happened there on Jordan’s banks, as men were mesmerized
Heaven opened and they saw the Spirit like a dove
Descending on the Son of God, He Whom the Father loved.

A voice from Heaven, loud and clear, refreshing as a breeze
Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Immediately the Spirit took Him to the wilderness
For forty days, temptations came; His faith withstood the test.

To be baptized can never wash our awful sins away
But shows the world you’ve trusted Christ and put Him on display
For Jesus died, was buried, then was raised up from the dead
To be baptized says to the world, “I’ve done what Jesus said.”

Mark 1:9 ¶ And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
