The Rattlesnake
He did not see the rattlesnake
While praying on his knees
The Indian braves were stalking him
To kill him, if you please.
The snake drew back to bite this man
And then just slid away
The braves could do this man no harm
It paid to fast and pray.
They took him to their chief that day
And told what they had seen
He welcomed him and heard him preach
His God was on the scene.
God would save that Indian chief
For he took time to pray

God washed his sins away.
