When the devil comes to you
If ready to give in
Always do what Jesus did
The story, let’s begin.
When He was in the wilderness
The tempter came and said
“If thou be the Son of God…”
Then turn these stones to bread.
“It is written,” said the Master
… not by bread alone
By every word from God above
A truth that is well known.
Then in the holy city He
Was tempted once again
If thou be the Son of God…
But Jesus could not sin.
He answered “It is written …shalt
Not tempt the Lord… and then
The sinless Savior overcame
The wicked one, Amen!
He showed Him all the kingdoms of
The world, though not his own
He said, I’ll give you all these things
If you will just bow down.
“Get thee hence,” the devil heard
It seems he had his nerve
Thou shalt worship only God…
Him only shalt thou serve.
Jesus was the perfect man
Resisted, conquered sin
When tempted, follow His command
Don’t let the devil in!
